There also exist games which incorporate other media in addition to the base content of the game, such as those which involve a VHS tape or DVD to display in tandem with the physical game, introducing further elements and events during play. Most games likewise have a little of both. Poker is a good example of a game that features both random elements (which cards you are dealt) and hidden information (your opponents' hands). In the Game of the Goose, there is no hidden information, but the randomness is turned up – everything is random, and players have zero control over the outcome of the game. In Stratego and Diplomacy, there are no random elements either, but the amount of hidden information is huge, and deceiving your opponent(s) is an important part of gameplay. For example, in chess, there is no hidden information and no randomness everything is determined by the players' own actions, and everything in the game is revealed to both players. Two aspects in which tabletop games can differ quite significantly are hidden information and random elements. Of course, the variety in gameplay is also enormous. There was no mudslinging, no name calling, and no efforts to undermine each other. The three of us were respectful of each other. When I ran four years ago to keep my Town Board seat, there were three of us in the race for the two Town Council positions. The board voted and we moved on, respectfully, in those cases of disagreement. The few times we were unable to reach agreement, I voted against Supervisor McKenna at Town Board meetings, respectfully. As we discuss issues either of us have, we find ways to solve the issues, so that by the time we have finished our discussions, we are in agreement. I always speak my mind, as does Supervisor McKenna. Supervisor McKenna and I collaborate on many topics one on one. When not a good fit, I explained, yes even to Supervisor McKenna, why some recommendations did not make it into the final law. When ready, I reviewed laws with the Town Board and incorporated their input when appropriate. People know I didn’t move any laws forward until I believed they were ready. However you lose out on the Breakthrough tactic which I consider to be very good. Mobile infantry provides a lot more general bonuses to your infantry and especially your motorized infantry. A risky tactic to deal with this might be to intentionally let the enemy make a single breakthrough, which you might encircle afterwards. In other words: you’re now in a losing war of attrition. High organization makes you more likely to stand and fight when stalemated, at the cost of elevated manpower and equipment losses. This puts you in a bad spot when stalemated or in line-to-line combat when no breakthroughs or encirclements are possible. Needs room to maneuver.Īlmost no direct combat bonuses. Loses utility in low supply zones and low mobility zones like mountains and jungles. Industrially the most expensive land doctrine. Almost all bonuses go to tanks, making you dependent on them. Saves manpower when everything happens according to plan. Very high movement speed and planning bonus speed. Highest organization, which helps your troops to keep up with a long, sweeping advance. This land doctrine is typically used by Germany and it suits them well.Įasier to make encirclements or to avoid encirclement of your own troops. However it is a one trick pony: if it fails to avoid said war of attrition you’re worse off than with any of the other land doctrines. It has one goal and one goal only: beat the enemy quickly and avoid a war of attrition. This land doctrine is made for offensive action, quick deepstrikes to strategic rear areas and encirclements.
